The holiday collection is made up of various shades to take you into the holiday season to create versatile party looks, including favourite shades like the Laguna Bronzer. The gifting sets include shades seen before that have been packaged into this beautiful futuristic packaging which features the silhouetted shapes of lace. Hence the name 'Laced'. The collective aspect of the collection makes it an instant sell out. The colours of the products have been seen before and it has been said that the collection needs more versatile shades. For instance, the blusher collection wouldn't work on every skin type which limits the product for many people. For me, this collection seems very much the same that Nars produces every year with similar colours and textures of the products. The packaging makes this collection more interesting than it is.

The campaign images, shot by Francois Nars, mirror the packaging from the collection by projecting the silhouetted shapes onto the models face. The campaign very much reminds me of photographer Solve Sundsbo's 'Shadow' series in which he projected shapes onto the bodies of women. Although not as stark in contrast, the concept is still similar.

The collection was modelled by Nars favourite Toni Garm and shot by Francois Nars himself. The images are beautiful, showing off the infamous Nars flawless skin helped by the new Nars multiple. The campaign shows how gorgeous the eye shadows are highly pigmented and blend-able working together to highlight the eye. The coral lip in keeping with the trends of 2014. The collection, as always is made up of wearable colours that can be carried into any season.

Nars Summer collection was also modelled by Toni Garm. The collection is made up of twelve products taking the customer into a high end summer full of rich colours and flawless reflected skin. The campaign images, again shot by Francois Nars, scream colour and beautiful skin. The collection is based around swim, hence the swimming cap. The colours are therefore reflective, as you would find looking into a pool on a summers day. I love how in the campaign image, the reflection of Garm can be seen but with dewy skin unlike the matte at the fore front of the campaign. The dewy skin reflects on the products in this collection, especially the illuminator. This campaign is particularly clever in showing the dewy skin and the matte to show how versatile the products are.

Bourdin was one of the main early influences in Francois Nars early career. The photography Bourdin created inspired Francois Nars with his love of colour. The colours are so vibrant, yet again with versatile products that can be used in multiple ways. Nars is known for naming their products in a sexual way, i.e 'Orgasm', 'Deep Throat' and 'Sex Appeal' to name a few; which could be inspiration from the photography Guy Bourdin produced with the sexual poses and erotic images of girls, especially in the 1970's.

Nars Spring / Summer 2013

Nars Spring / Summer campaign was shot by Francois Nars who also featured as the Makeup artist. The collection was modelled by Stella Tennant who appeared in the campaign at 41 years old. Although in the campaign the model looks a lot younger then her actual age!

The collection is all about being fierce yet feminine. The colours once again represent the the season, being bright and colourful to bring us into summer. The collection features complimentary colours which adds a playful aspect to the collection allowing for the customer to have options when it comes to the use of the product. The collection is made up of eight products.

- Nars Multiple in Puerto Vallarta which creates a gorgeous summer glow.
- Duo Eyeshadow in Fashion Rebel.
- Eyeshadow in Euphrate.
- Eyeliner in Barrow Street.
- Lipstick in Tolede.
- Lipgloss in Paris Follies.
- Lip Pencil in Tender Night.
- Nail Varnish in Madness a gorgeous bright orange shade perfect for summer.

The products once again take inspiration from the colours surrounding us in spring creating a fresh take on the 2013 collection. The advertisement produced has a 70's aspect to it with the use of a lot of colour. The hairstyle was fierce and masculine against a feminine makeup style. By bleaching out the eyebrows the attention is all on the eyes focusing on the beautiful colours from the eyeshadow palettes. The styling is also fierce. It is unusual to find an advertising campaign in Spring Summer which has a fierce, strong connotation to it, as most things are fresh and all about new beginnings.

Nars Fall / Holiday 2012

Nars Fall Collection 2012. Kristen Mcmenamy for Nars. Viewed 10/04/15. Available to View: http://models.com/Work/franois-nars-francois-nars-fall-color-collection-2012
Nars Fall / Holiday 2012 collection includes an amazing collection inspired by Andy Warhol and a collection full of colour. The collection is made up of 9 products.

- Nars Multiple in Undress Me.
- Duo Eyeshadow in Vent Glace.
- Trio Eyeshadow in High Society.
- Nail Polish in Storm Bird.
- Blusher in Outlaw.
- Lip Pencil in More.
- Sheer Lipstick in Autumn Leaves.
- Matte Lipstick in Amsterdam.
- Lipgloss in Rouge Tribal.

The collection is made up of autumn tones of greens and reds to reflect upon the seasonal surroundings.

The collection was modelled by Kristen Mcmenamy. Mcmenamy has worked with Francois Nars for many years now and has been featured within the book 'X-Ray' by Francois Nars. Her features are quite unique and bold which creates the perfect canvas to play around with the limits of this collection. Mcmenamy also worked with Nars in the Summer of 2012 to unveil a new liquid eyeliner pen. The model has the perfect complexion and skin tone to use a wide range of colours against. Her features are very structured which is a great aspect when trying to sell eye liner which structures the eye.

Once again, Nars advertising campaign is minimal so not to distract from the makeup. There is definitely a chic sense to the brand which reflects in the products and packaging used.

As well as the colour collection released, Nars also produced another colour collection inspired by Andy Warhol. The Andy Warhol collection features loads of diverse products. Warhol was the main figure in pop art so this inspiration and colour palette has been transferred across into eyeshadows, lipglosses and nail varnishes galore!

The pop art collection includes colours featured in Andy Warhols work. The vibrant colours are perfect for the holiday season and can be carried into summer to create outstanding high summer looks. The colours are definitely for the brave, with bright turquoise eye shadows and neon nail polishes. Next, one of Andy Warhols most famous painting has been transformed into a collection of three eyeshadows with various shades etched into 'Flowers'.

Three eye shadow palettes — Flowers 1, Flowers 2 and Flowers 3 — all new shades, and each compact has a Warhol quote selected by Nars inscribed on the mirror.

I love how the flower eyeshadow palette has not been made up of the bright colours in the original painting, but has been toned down to colours that are better suited to the purpose. The eyeshadows themselves are highly pigmented and so easy to blend. The creativity of this product is so unique and inspiring. The eyeshadows are so versatile and the colours can be mixed and used to create different hues. The Andy Warhol collection is definitely one of my favourite collections that Nars has ever created, by bringing both art and colour into makeup in a useful and usable way.

As well as the flower eyeshadow palettes, Nars also produced three versions of Andy Warhol's 'Self Portrait'.

Three different eye shadow palettes — Self Portrait 1, Self Portrait 2, Self Portrait 3 — offer new shades and Warhol quotes selected by Francois Nars on the compacts.

The eyeshadow compacts all include individual quote on the mirror inside. The use of the portrait is so creative. When you open the eyeshadow it's almost like you never want to use them. The collection is definitely for collection purposes I believe. I have the silver and black portrait eyeshadow. I touched the eyeshadow and the picture started to come away so in order to keep the portrait in tact I will not use the product as intended.

The collection also included limited edition gift sets with around three miniature products inspired by all of the collection, including the pop art colours, silver factory collection and the embossed eyeshadows. I have the gift set, 'Walk on the wild side' which features Illuminator in 'Silver Factory', Lipgloss in 'Orgasm' and Nail Varnish in 'It'. The illuminator is perfect to highlight or to use mixed in with a foundation to create a glow. The lipgloss in best selling shade 'Orgasm' gives a nice natural tint to the lips which is a surprising colour to use in the Andy Warhol collection. I though the lipgloss would have been a more vivid colour. The nail varnish is a ultra-violet shade with metallic tones to it, which matches the packaging for the gift set.

Own Image.
The packaging for the limited edition 'Walk on the Wild Side' gift set, mirrors the 'Flowers' painting but incorporates a metallic edge to it. Nars have succeeded on the packaging as the whole thing is very eye catching and intriguing. Overall, the whole collection is one of the best Nars has ever produced. The products within the collection range from a variety of shades to diverse products that can be used in multiple ways. The collection is definitely one to keep as a collectors item inspired by the wonderful Andy Warhol.

Nars Spring / Summer 2012

Nars Spring / Summer collection was one of bright diverse colours modelled by Latvian model Ginta Lapina. Lapina was said to have soft feminine features that accentuated the colours and mood of the collection well. The collection consists of 9 products.

- Eyeshadow Trio in Douce France.
- Eyeshadow in Lahasa.
- Eyeshadow in Paramaribo.
- Velvet Gloss Lip Pencil in Mexican Rose.
- Blush in Gaeity.
- Soft Touch Shadow Pencil in Dark Rite.
- Nail Polish in Diamond Life.
- Pure Matte Lipstick in Valparaiso.
- Lipstick in Bilbao.

The collection is a range of pink hues with purple, blues and greens. The collection is not pastel tones like one would expect for Spring and Summer, but rather rich tones that would be associated with High Summer. The colours are so versatile that they could be taken into Winter, the soft touch pencil in Dark Rite (Navy Blue) especially.

Once again Francois Nars was the photographer and makeup artist for this collection.

The collection is shot as though the blue background is the sky of summer. The image gives a connotation that the model is at a beach or by the pool with the sun shinning over her face creating a summer warmth and glow. The styling as well is simple and relates to what people would wear during summer. The makeup is absolutely flawless showcasing the use of colour and how to achieve a summer look so effortlessly with minimal products.

Nars Winter / Holiday 2011

Mariacarla Boscono for Nars Winter 2011. Viewed 21/02/15. Available to view: www.models.com/Work/franois-nars-francois-nars-fall-2011
Winter 2011 saw Nars bring out an 11 piece collection modeled by the Italian model Mariacarla Boscono. The 11 piece collection is made up of darker shades to transition you into those winter months full of Christmas parties and the office work do.

The collection is made up of the following:
- The Multiple in G-Spot
- Lip Gloss in Albatross
- Eyeshadow in Arabian Nights
- Highlighting Blusher in Miss Liberty
- Semi Matte Lipstick in Joyous Red
- Cream Eyeshadow in Ponderosa
- Nail Polish in Endless Night
- Nail Polish in Space Odyssey
- Duo Eyeshadow in Mandchouris
- Larger than Life Long wear eyeliner in Campo de' Fiori and St. Marks Place.

The eyeshadows are highly pigmented with light reflecting, shimmering particles. They can be applied wet or dry depending on the desired intensity. The nail polishes come in a dark red colour and a silver shade that reflect the atmosphere of the given season. Like Nars's other multiple sticks, they can be used on the lips, cheek and eye areas. Larger than life long wear eyeliner in Campo de' Fiori and St. Marks Place also reflect the atmosphere of the season. The gold and purple liner compliment each other perfectly which can be worn day or night, perfect for the winter season! The aptly named Lipstick, Joyous Red, reflects the colour of the season. The rich, vibrant colour comes in a semi matte format, giving you the hydration you expect from a satin lipstick, mixed with the matte texture that can last all night.

Once again, Francois Nars was the photographer behind the 2011 Winter Collection.

The advertising featured bleached out eyebrows, a look that has become very popular in the last few years with the likes of Cara Delevingne for Givenchy and Kim Kardashian for Love Magazine, all bleaching their brows for an intense focus on the eye area. The collection is alot sexier then previous collections throughout the year to show what the customer could look like during the party season. The campaign focuses on statement, evening looks.

During winter, Nars also brings out a holiday collection. 2011 saw Nars bring out Modern Kabuki, a collection based around the inspiration Francois Nars found whilst travelling around Japan. The inspiration came from Kabuki, a traditional style of theatre in Japanese culture known for its elaborate style and makeup.

Kabuki Makeup. Viewed 21/02/15. Available to view: www.pinterest.com/pin/457959855829302863/

The collection includes The Nagauta Kabuki Brush Set which is still available across concessions today. The brushes have an interesting handle, which looks like traditional tools of Japanese culture, used to create art.

Nars Concession Stand. London. Taken February 2015.

The brushes are made out of real animal hair, which is slightly controversial in terms of animal cruelty and testing. Nars continually states that they do not test on animals, however animal products are found not only in the brushes but also in the makeup products. The animal hair creates a good quality brush, however vegan options could be introduced to appeal to a wider audience. Nars website has a whole section based on animal cruelty and why animal hair is used instead of other alternatives.
