Evening Look Moodboard

The inspiration for hair to create an evening look is in the moodboard above. I want the hair to be sleek including a plait to bring some texture to the look.

The lighting inspiration is in the moodboard above. I want to use red lighting gels to create the effect that my model is on her night out. I only want the light on one side of the face so that you can still see the makeup that has been created.

My makeup idea is to create a simple eye with a bold dark red lip using Nars Sixties Fan Lipgloss. I will simply line the eye with blackeyeliner. Once again I want the skin to be flawless and dewy with highlight catching in the lighting used.

The poses are as above. Close ups of the model but also introducing the use of hands and showing off the styling. I have got a backless white dress for my model to wear, so I want the detailing of this to be picked up within the image.

Daytime Test Look

In order to make sure my daytime look makeup worked I carried out a test. The skin at first was matte with subtle contouring with a simple brown smokey eye effect. After looking at the design I had created I decided that the skin should be dewy and highlighted with the eye reflecting this. I decided to change my design because I thought Nars skin was more dewy than matte which would create a high end finish.

I changed the skin so that it was highlighted better. Instead of using an eyeshadow I mixed a pigment with mixing medium to create a high shine shadow which I think works better than the original. Although it is a daytime look I think it could still work. The lips with added gloss so that the highlight ties in together around the face.

The hair for my daytime look will be natural. I want the hair to show the modern woman and how she would wear it to work and other daily engagements. The hair at the roots will be sleek flowing down into a natural wave.

The final image created by using the above face chart. The makeup is soft and flawless creating a daytime look inspired by Nars.

Daytime Moodboard

My Daytime hair style inspiration is shown in the moodboard above. I want the hair to be very relaxed and natural to reflect the modern women and how everyday hair is. The model I have chosen has long natural wavy hair so little styling is required. I will place oil through the hair to create a sleek feel but keep some of the texture within the hair.

Above is the test for my daytime look. I decided after the test that the skin needs to be more dewy and the eyes I would prefer to be more brown than copper.

The makeup inspiration for my daytime look is in the moodboard above. I want the skin to be dewy and highlighted to show health. The eyes will be a light brown colour and the lips pink using Nars 'Catfight' featured above. I want to keep the colours neutral to show a realistic interpretation of a wearable look.

The lighting and poses inspiration for my photographer to follow is in the moodboards above.  I want the background to be green to show the colour of nature in everyday and to also work well with the neutral colours that I am using in my makeup design. The lighting will throw shadow onto one side of the face allowing the other side to show the highlight created. I think creating shadow on the face will show depth. I want the poses to be natural to reflect on the daytime aspect.

2015 sees the collaberation of Nars and the wonderful fashion designer Christopher Kane, which was previewed at London Fashion Week in September 2014 at Kane's fashion show. The collection is made up of the following products:

- Nars Multiple in Violet Atom and Quantum.
- Lipgloss in Mezmer, Nebulous, Nucleus and Glow Pink.
- Eyeshadow Duo in Paralell Universe.
- Blush in Outer Limits, Silent Nude and Starscape.

The collection is based on Kane's love of neon. Together with Nars love of flawless skin you would expect really bright finishes from the products. However, they create a flawless barely there effect which is unusual to the neon colouring. The focus is on the neutrals, which normally neon would not be associated with, but somehow it works!? I imagine fashion forward individuals anticipating getting their hands on this collection as it appeals to both the fashion and makeup world. My favourite is the Nars multiple in Violet Atom. It is a beautiful violet shade that you think would not work on varies skin tones at all, but the shade is simply divine and the best tool to create that dewy skin look.

Not only is the collection a work of art with beautiful shades, the way Nars has introduced it is simply unique and interactive with the customer. In keeping with the season Easter, Nars created a giant orb filled with the Christopher Kane collection AND a Christopher Kane handbag. In order to win the contents of the orb, the shell of the orb needed to be cracked. In order to do this, #NARSChristopherKaneUK needed to be tweeted multiple times, every time the hashtag was sent to Nars little hammers would hit the orb. The last tweet to be received before the orb cracked got the contents. As well as this you could watch the whole thing live to see the orb crack revealing the goodies inside. The idea was completely genius, a simply amazing away to create a buzz about the already eagerly anticipated collection. Hats - or Christopher Kane bags off to Nars.
