High Summer Test Look
The test for my High Summer look went well and I am happy with the design I have created. The lighting in the studio will pick up the highlight around the cheeks and the vaseline on the eyes quite well. I like the contrast between the eye colour and lip colour and think this works well and reflects on Nars love of colour
.
High Summer Facechart and Hairchart
The products used to create this look are as follows:
- Bourjois Happy Light Base Serum.
- Kryolan Ultra Foundation.
- M.A.C Pro Conceal in Light.
- Illamasqua Translucent Powder.
- Illamasqua Cream Blusher in Laid.
- Illamasqua Blusher in Morale.
- Makeup Revolution Highlighter.
- Crownbrush Eyeshadow in Orange.
- Vaseline.
- NO7 Lash Impact Mascara.
- HD Brows Palette.
- M.A.C Lip Liner in Soar.
- M.A.C Lipstick in Velvet Teddy.
- Cleanse, tone and moisturise the skin.
- Apply Bourjois Serum to create a dewy base.
- Conceal any imperfections or dark circles with M.A.C Pro Conceal in Light.
- Powder under the eye, around the nose and on the forehead avoiding to remove the dewy base created.
- Use Illamasqua Cream Blusher to create the contour.
- Illamasqua Blusher in morale on the cheeks of the apple to create a flush to the skin.
- Highlight the cheekbone with Makeup Revolution highlighter.
- Using CrownBrush Eyeshadow in Orange, brush this across the lid and out. Once applied dab Vaseline over the top.
- Brush the eyebrows and fill in with HD Brow Palette.
- Apply a few layers of mascara.
- Line the lips with M.A.C Soar and fill in with Velvet Teddy.
The model I have chosen to use has short hair therefore I will create sleek hair so that the image has a high end feel to it. I also want to try out creating a five strand roll to create texture to see which finish works best for a high summer campaign.
I am happy with my final images created. The skin reflects the eyes nicely creating this summer mood. I decided to shoot on two different backgrounds so that I had more option when it came to deciding what I wanted my final image to be. I prefer the orange background as I think it brings the whole image together, tying in with the nails and eyes.
High Summer Moodboard
The hair inspiration for High Summer is in the moodboard above. My model has short hair so I want to create a style that brings her hair up, creating texture and volume.
I want the makeup to be bold and bright. Reflecting on the tone of high summer. I want the skin to be dewy to show the effect that summer would have on the skin. Furthermore, I am going to use Vaseline over the eyes and lips to create a wet effect as though the model is at the beach or pool.
Evening Test Look
My evening test look consists of a brown eye with a simple black liner, dark red lips with slightly contoured skin. I am happy with the design and think that it will work well on the model chosen.
For my final shoot I would like the eyeliner to be thicker and the eyeshadow darker. The lips need some gloss so that there is extra highlight to the image. I think that the colours I have chosen will work well with the red lighting gels.

- Nars Sixties Fan Lipgloss.
- Cleanse, tone and moisturise the skin.
- Use Bourjois Matte Base Serum to help create the matte finish.
- Apply Kryolan Ultra Foundation and buff in until the skin is flawless.
- Conceal any imperfections or dark circles with M.A.C Pro Conceal in Light.
- Apply translucent powder across the face to seal the makeup creating the matte finish.
- Use Kryolan Ultra Foundation to contour the face.
- Apply Nars Satellite of Love Blusher just under the cheek bones and blend in.
- Highlight lightly across the cheekbone with M.A.C Lightscapade.
- Create a simple black line across the top lashes with eyeliner.
- Use Sleek eyeshdaow in storm.
- Line the lips with M.A.C Burgundy and apply Illamasqua Shard Lipstick.
- Finish with Nars Sixties Fan Lipgloss.
The hair is going to be a sleep updo incorporating a twisted fishtail plait (see assessment post for how to) pulled up into a bun. I want the hair all over to be sleek so no wispy bits. The hair here represents an evening look that could be taken from day wear into evening.
Above are the final images. The subtle contouring and matte skin create a flawless evening look with a sleek updo. The lipstick isn't as dark as I thought it would be but I think that it reflects the mood of the lighting well. The eye is simple with the main focus being on the lip.
